De Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Digital Camera is Canon's flagship systeemcamera. De R5 heeft een 45 MP sensor met interne beeldstabilisatie en beschikt over Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus II.
De maximale resolutie is 8192 x 5464. De sensor afmeting is 36 x 24 mm.De R5 heeft niet alleen 1,053 AF-punten maar beschikt ook over Deep Learning technologie. Hierdoor heeft het focus systeem betere eye, face en head (people, animals) AF-detection.
De R5 kan tot wel 8K-raw video tot 30p intern schieten, maar ook 4K 120 p in 4:2:2 10 bit met Canon-log kleurenprofiel. Verder kan over HDMI ook een 4K 60p signaal naar externe recorder verstuurd worden.
De R5 schiet foto's tot 12 fps met de mechanische shutter en tot wel 20 fps met de elektronische shutter.Ten slotte is de R5 stof- en spatwaterdicht, heeft het een vari-angle lcd touchscreen, CFexpress en SD UHS-II kaartslot.
De body heeft een afmeting van 138 x 97.5 x 88 mm en een gewicht van 738 g.
