L’appareil photo hybride sans miroir Canon EOS R5 est l’appareil photo hybride phare de Canon. Le R5 est équipé d'un capteur de 45 mégapixels avec stabilisation interne de l'image et de la mise au point automatique II CMOS Dual Pixel de Canon.
La résolution maximale est de 8192 x 5464. Le capteur mesure 36 x 24 mm. La caméra R5 dispose non seulement de 1 053 points de mise au point automatique, mais aussi de la technologie Deep Learning. Cela permet au système de mise au point de mieux détecter les yeux, le visage et la tête (personnes, animaux).
L’appareil photo R5 peut filmer des vidéos Raw 8K jusqu'à 30p en interne, ainsi que des vidéos 4K 120p en 4:2:2 10 bits avec le profil de couleur Canon-log. Un signal 4K 60p peut également être envoyé à un enregistreur externe via HDMI.
Le R5 prend des photos jusqu'à 12 ips avec l'obturateur mécanique et jusqu'à 20 ips avec l'obturateur électronique. Enfin, le R5 est résistant à la poussière et aux éclaboussures, dispose d'un écran tactile LCD à angle variable et de emplacements pour cartes CFexpress et SD UHS-II. Le boîtier a une taille de 138 x 97,5 x 88 mm et un poids de 738 g.
