La Sony FX30 Cinema Line est un appareil photo sans miroir équipé d'un capteur CMOS au format APS-C et d'une monture Sony E. Grâce à l'oversampling 6K, l'appareil offre une meilleure qualité d'image et plus de détails. Grâce au profil S-Cinetone, l'appareil offre une précision des couleurs de qualité cinématographique, tandis que le S-log3 permet un plage dynamique de plus de 14 stops.
L'appareil offre un enregistrement interne en 10 bits 4:2:2, avec un choix entre la compression H.265 ou H.264, et prend des photos de 26 MP. Il peut enregistrer en 4K jusqu'à 120 images par seconde avec un crop supplémentaire de 1,6x. Il dispose d'un autofocus efficace et d'une stabilisation d'image sur cinq axes. De plus, il est possible d'enregistrer en externe en raw 16 bits via HDMI. La plage ISO standard varie de 100 à 32 000.
L'appareil est livré avec les accessoires correspondants dans une valise extérieure B&W Type 3000.
