Die Sony BURANO ist die neueste Ergänzung der Sony CineAlta-Reihe. Diese digitale Filmkamera wurde speziell für mobile Solo-Kinofilme entwickelt und bietet Aufnahmen mit bis zu 8,6K in einem kompakten Vollbildformat. Die einzigartige kamerainterne Stabilisierung für E-Mount- und PL-Mount-Objektive (PL-Mount: 3-Achsen, E-Mount: 5-Achsen), der schnelle Hybrid-Autofokus und ein elektronisch variabler ND-Filter verbessern die Einzelbildaufnahme und ermöglichen eine nahtlose Bildanpassung. Qualitativ kann man die BURANO zwischen der Sony VENICE II und der Sony FX9 einordnen. Beide Kameras sind mit der BURANO in Bezug auf das Bild ohnehin sehr gut vergleichbar.
Der 8,6K-CMOS-Sensor der Kamera bietet einen großen Dynamikbereich von 16 Blendenstufen und liefert hervorragende Bilder mit minimalem Rauschen, selbst bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen und hellem Sonnenlicht. Dank der dualen ISO-Empfindlichkeit von 800/3200 kann die BURANO auch bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen hervorragende HDR-Aufnahmen machen.
Zu den Autofokus-Optionen der BURANO, die mit Sony E-Mount-Objektiven verfügbar sind, gehören Fast Hybrid AF (Phasendetektions-/Kontrastdetektions-AF) und Human Eye AF für präzise Aufnahmen von sich schnell bewegenden Motiven, auch wenn man alleine arbeitet. Der PL-Anschluss ist mit allen Super35- und Vollformat-PL-Objektiven kompatibel und unterstützt außerdem die Cooke/i-Technologie für Frame-by-Frame-Metadaten und ZEISS eXtended Data.
