This adapter is designed to send a better audio signal than the internal mic input to the camera thanks to its built-in digital audio interface. It also comes with a multi-directional shotgun mic and a windshield. It has a few settings that can be adjusted via the adapter such as: recording level (AUTOMATIC/MANUAL), coupling recording level (INPUT 1-INPUT 2), signal attenuator and controls for low-cut filter (100/300 Hz).

There are two XLR/TRS jacks that are also suitable for phantom power and a stereo mini-plug (3.5 mm) with an external power jack for a microphone.
